K A Schofield Ceramics is a way for me to share the satisfying feeling of holding and using my mindfully made pots. Everything is made by me, Kimberley Schofield, in Leeds, UK. 

After becoming chronically ill and spending several years jumping from craft to craft, I began working with clay in 2018 and fell in love. From my first time using the wheel I've had an insatiable thirst for learning more, challeging myself to be the best I can be. I went from just taking a weekly pottery class to becoming an active member of a coworking studio space in summer '19. This has only reinforced my passion for ceramics. I find solace in throwing and regularly getting covered in mud. 

During the covid lockdowns I was throwing in my bedroom and smoke firing in the garden, discovering a whole new world of backyard alchemy. Chemicals combine with combustibles to create beautiful organic marks on the smooth surfaces of burnished bisqueware. The resulting pieces are one of a kind and each takes on a whole new personality from every new angle you look from. I still enjoy making functional ware from time to time, but the excitement of pit firing is where most of my interest lies at the moment.
